Our Packing Policy:

We pack our products so they will arrive in perfect condition.

We use bubble wrap to protect on as many sides as possible.

Where space it tight we use a high density foam material for protection.

For example when we mail a CD we do not just put in it in a padded envelope. We wrap the CD in many layers of bubble wrap and then put it in an envelope. Sure, it takes more time but we spend no time dealing with customers who have broken or scratched product.

Many of our customers tell us they appreciate the extra care we take.

We can gift wrap all but a few large bulky items. Most of the items we do not gift wrap are:
• the 20 volumes Oxford English Dictionary in leather or cloth
• our table top stand
• the Greenstar Juicer

Most of our items we do gift wrap, if the description does not say we can not gift wrap the item you can assume we gift wrap it. The charge is $5.00. Gift messages are printed on stationary in Script MT Bold. If you want a different font let us know. If we have it we will use it. You even can type a message if you want without the gift wrapping and we will print it for free.

For gift wrapping just check the box on the 2nd page of the order process.

Shipping methods to United States addresses

Free Shipping: If you order $100.00 or more we will ship your order for free to all 50 states and US territories if you select the shipping method "Free to US and for $100 order". This applies to all items except a few and then it is obviously stated on the items page!

To get free shipping:

1. order more than $100.00 in goods
2. ship to the US and territories.
3. select the shipping method "Free to US & Terr. for $100 orders" when you place the order. Your order should arrive within 7 to 14 days.


UPS Ground: Is a reliable, and economical method of shipping. Click here for a map with delivery times. Please check the UPS website for more information about this shipping method.

All UPS services are based on business days. So a two day air shipment shipped on Friday will arrive on Tuesday.

Air Mail: (1st Class Air Mail or Priority Mail) This usually takes 2 to 4 calendar days. Air Mail can be faster than ground shipping method to the Midwest and East because we ship from Los Angeles, California. This is also a good method to use toward the end of the week as the deliver time is calendar days and not business days. The Post office also delivers on Saturday for no extra charge. It is a bargain for shipments of a pound or less.



Book rate (media mail): This is an inexpensive postal ground service for books and CDs but it can be slow. It takes from 2 to 21 days depending on the distance from Los Angeles, California ! There is no guaranteed delivery date and the tracking is often only a scan upon delivery. We recommend UPS ground.



Air Mail CDs only For three or less CDs or DVDs this is the most economical method to receive software on CD-ROMs or DVDs. We air mail you the contents of the store display box carefully wrapped in lots of bubble wrap inserted in an envelope. You do not get the box because we throw it away for you.

Above three CDs this method may only be cheaper than our Air Mail rate if the CD comes in a box and we cut down the shipping weight.

Let us know if you want the original box folded in the package. We may have to charge extra shipping for this.

You can only use this shipping method when you are ordering products on CD or DVD. This shipping method is not available for books.

Note: Based on customer responses Air Mail seems to be taking from 5 to 15 days to most countries. Your Air Mail Shipment does not have to wait long for a plane because we are located in the Los Angeles area and Los Angeles International Airport is the third busiest airport in the world (based on number of passengers). To most countries Air Mail is reliable (Japan is a good example.) From a customer "I'm very much impressed with the quick delivery. My CD-Roms arrived safely and quickly through International Air Mail." A. S., Hong Kong

Air Mail: (International Air Mail) Choose this shipping method for shipping books. We ship up to 1.81 kg or 4 pounds via Airmail for around $13.00USD to most Asian, European and some other countries. For shipments less than 0.5 kg the shipping charge is usually much less.

Air Mail CDs only: This is the most economical method to receive software on CD-ROMs or DVDs. If you select this shipping method you will receive the CD and the manual without the original box. Let us know if you want the original box folded in the package. We may have to charge extra shipping for this. You can only use this shipping method when you are ordering products on CD or DVD. You can use this method for shipment to all countries including the United Sates. This shipping method is not available for books.

Intl Air CD Registered: This method is the same as "Air Mail CDs only" except that we also ship your order registered mail. This is the Post Office's most secure method of shipping and your order will be transported in numbered locked pouches."

Only California sales taxes are collected.

Sales taxes are charged if the package is shipping to California. This is currently 8.25% of the price for the goods (not shipping). If you order is shipping anywhere else we do not charge any taxes. If your order is shipping to Los Angeles County we charge an addition 1%. We do charge the local taxes for areas outside of Los Angeles County because we do not have offices there.

Customs duties and taxes for International shipments.

The customer shall pay any duties and taxes imposed by his country at the time of delivery. We mark the customs label "Educational"on all of our reference products. There is no duty on Educational products shipped to some countries. Japan, Brazil and Norway are three of these countries. For the UK there is no VAT for orders up to 18 pounds and no VAT on books. On orders over 18 pounds that are not books you have to pay the normal VAT fee plus you have to pay a postal clearance fee of 3.85 pounds (updated Mar 2003). Gifts:

If you type in a gift message on the order form and have the gift shipped directly to the person receiving the gift we will mark the shipment as a gift on the customs form. Gift messages are printed on stationary in Script MT Bold and are included with your order. There is no charge for this only for gift wrapping. Many countries do not charge customs duty on gifts up to a certain value. For the EC, gifts that do not exceed 45 EUROs may be duty free (as of March 2003). For Canada the first $20 Canadian are tax free (as of Jan 2004). Check with your local customs authority to be sure.

We charge reasonable shipping charges based on the actual cost of the shipping plus a little for handling. Sometimes, we are able to combine two orders from the same customer (yes, this happens) and can reduce your shipping charges.

Incorrect shipping methods/Adjusting shipping charges: Occasionally, a customer will choose an inappropriate shipping method. For example, "UPS Ground" is not appropriate for International shipments. We reserve the right to correct the shipping method and charge more (or less) for shipping. We will automatically do this if the difference in shipping charges is no more than $2.00 more being charged the customer. If it is more than that, we usually contact the customer to inquire if they would like to continue with the order. Since inquiring with the customer and getting a response can cause a delay of a day or more, we usually make the adjustments automatically if the amount would be less than $2.00. That way, the customer gets their product faster. We don't inquire with the customer if the shipping charges are less.

Incorrect shipping addresses: We ship your package to the exact address you enter on your order form. If the address is undeliverable and your order is returned to us, we may charge you an additional shipping fee to re-ship the order. If UPS corrects an incorrect address and delivers it to you anyway, they charge us $5 or $10 to correct the address and we may pass on that fee to you.

Return & Refund Policy

We strive to sell quality products and accurately describe each product. Further, we expect that most of our customers will find our products to be better than expected. However, if a product does not meet your needs, you may return it based on the following conditions:

Books and everything except Software and ebooks: If we receive a your item back in excellent condition We will refund the purchase price for the item. If the item was shipped with our free shipping offer we will deduct from the refund 10% or the actual shipping cost whichever is greater.

Software: If software is still wrapped in the original container (in excellent condition with the wrapping intact), we will refund the amount paid for the software returned only. If the software was shipped with free shipping we will deduct from the refund 10% or the actual shipping cost whichever is greater from the refund amount. Otherwise, the software can only by returned by special arrangement.


eBooks: eBooks are not "returnable" or refundable.


If you want to return a product, Email US first to let us know and why you are returning the product so we can possibly correct any problems.

Wind Power
"Good wind areas, which cover 6% of the contiguous U.S. land area, have the potential to supply more than one and a half times the current electricity consumption of the United States." Sept 1993, National Wind Technology Center http://www.nrel.gov

We purchase power from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) Green Power program which according to a LADWP 2008 projected content report is 75% derived from wind power & 25% derived from small hydro.

LADWP is now building the Pine Tree Wind Project, the largest City-owned wind farm in America! We encourage you to support such projects by buying power generated from renewable sources!

Many electric utilities have similar programs to LADWP's Green Power program. LADWP program increases your cost of electricity by 6%. The additional money allows the utility to purchase the electricity you use from a renewable source. This is a vary small price to pay to not have a planet ravaged by the impacts of air pollution.

We encourage you to also purchase wind power.

If your utility does not have such a program you can still purchase wind energy credits that go toward energy being purchase somewhere in the US and put on the electric grid. One company that sells these is Renewable Choice Energy.


Solar Power


In the near future you maybe able to economically generate enough electricity to power you home, including heating and air conditioning your home by converting your air conditioner to a heat pump (for mild climates). Plus power your electric car.

One promising company is Nanosolar where they have developed technology to print solar cells, these should be 1/10 the cost of current solar cells and have volume production but it is currently going mostly to large projects that feed utilities. Hopefully they will increase production to be able to satisfy roof top projects in the not to distant future. See http://www.nanosolar.com/


Recycling


We recycle most of the paper we dispose of as well as bottles and cans.


Windows


We have added windows to our main warehouse and significantly reduced our electric lighting demand.


Insulation


Our warehouses are extensively insulated and are not air conditioned.


Ventalation


The area below our roof is extensively ventilated to allow the heat generated by the roof to escape. We have ceiling ventilation which which pulls out the hot air at night so our work spaces are nice and cool in the morning. We rarely run the air conditioning before 2pm.

Attic ventilation is inexpensive to install and can easily pay for itself in a few years. We encourage you to consider it.

Our utility expenses are so low that our accountant was sure we were under reporting our utility expenses. We were not!


Transportation


We use a 2001 Toyota Prius, a gasoline/electric car which gets much higher millage and has fewer emissions than an ordinary car and we are helping keep some of the Priuses on the road by selling 12 volt batteries for the 2000 to 2003 and 2004 + Toyota Prius.

We use railroads whenever possible because it is much more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly compared to over the road trucking. Click here for more information.


Lighting


We have started to convert are T12 florescent lamps to T8.

T8 lamps come in the same lengths and have the same connectors. They are smaller and produce light with less energy and less heat. (Saving you on air conditioning costs as well.) When you T12 tubes need to be replaced you can easily replace them with T8 by also replacing the ballast. If you light diffusers have yellowed you might want to replace them also.

Because T8 have a smaller diameter they need less phosphor coating and higher quality coatings that produce better light are affordable.

The purpose of eLearnAid is to provide you with quality dictionaries, references, study tools and other worthwhile books and products.

We are located in Sylmar, California which is part of Los Angeles, California. All of our Air Mail goes through Los Angeles International Airport one of the largest airports in the world. As a result most of our air mail shipments arrive in three to eight days to overseas locations.

In 2006 we became a publisher by publishing a well respected American English School Dictionary the Webster's Young Readers Dictionary which had been out of print for many years. The schools which have received it have been very please with it.
